Biodegradable Denim

Updated: Oct 22

Fashion brands are attempting to give back to the planet instead of using up all of our finite resources, taking a circular rather than linear approach to fabric production by creating biodegradable materials.

Biodegradable means using materials that could breakdown through microbial action into the basic elements found in nature. This include cotton, silk, bamboo, wool, linen, alpaca, Tencel, hemp, cashmere, and rayon viscose. When untreated, certified organic, and not blended with other materials, these fabrics can biodegrade without leaving any harmful chemicals.

Non-biodegradable fabrics include polyester, acrylic, polyurethane, PVC, elastane, and nylon. These materials are partly derived from coal and petroleum and can stay in a landfill for hundreds of years. However, there are biodegradable polyester and elastane already engineered.

Please contact us for the collection.
