Considering the afterlife of garments, upcycle and resale are important elements of circular fashion, and more challenging tasks are ensuring products of today to become the resources of tomorrow. To build the circular strategies, we are also looking for designs to uplift the recycle value of our products.
Allowing a mono-material development are highlighted. Choose right materials and avoid using blends that do not lend themselves well to recycling. We are cooperating with mill for possibility of Close Loop Recycling.
For design perspective, improve the construction to increase the emotional durability, hence a longer garment’s life. Look to phase out rivets and metal trims from products, use detectable buttons and move rivets to alternatives such as bar tacks. Switch leather patches to biodegradable labels or substitute design like laser prints for branding.
